Tubing down the Cartecay River

Tubing and kayaking down the Cartecay is one of the most popular activities in Ellijay. Excursion last from 45 minutes to over 4 hours.

Just a short drive up the road is one of the most beautiful to see in North Georgia, Amicalola Falls State Park. You can hike to the top of the falls or drive, either way the view is spectacular!

Starting in downtown Blue Ridge travel along the Tacocoa River on a 26 mile round trip to McCaysville, Georgia and Copperhill, Tennessee and back again. There is a short layover in each town to explore and shop.

There are many vineyards surrounding Ellijay. Everyone we talk to has a different favorite. Most don’t serve food but will let you bring in your own food. Many will have food trucks and live music on the weekends. If you don’t want to drive, there are many wine tour services that provide door to door transportation from our cabin to the vineyards and back.

Apple Barns and Orchards

Ellijay and nearby Blue Ridge are surrounded by apple orchards and apple barns loaded with all kinds of treats. Fried hand pies are the favorite and they all make them a little different. You can purchase anything from wines, fresh local produce, local honey, and of course apples when they are in season. They also sell locally made craft items. Here are a few of our favorites.
